Optional, and done once. Sharing a diary? Only one of you needs to do it — the key is shared with everyone in it.

    1. 1
      Make a Google Cloud project

Sign in with any Google account and create a project. Any name will do, like “Diary”.

      Open Google Cloud
    2. 2
      Add a billing account

Google asks for a card even for free use. The diary stops itself at 90% of Google's free monthly allowance, so it can't cost money.

      Open billing
    3. 3
      Turn on two services

Open each one and press Enable.

    4. 4
Create a key, locked to this site

Choose Create credentials → API key. Open the new key: under Website restrictions add the address below, and under API restrictions pick the two services from step 3.

      Open credentials
    5. 5
      Paste the key here

The diary tries it once before keeping it.
